Summer snowfalls

Here is a photo from the group on the Acclimatisation Weekend a couple of days ago, as they reach the radio transmitter on Mont Buet, with Mont Blanc behind. As you can see from the photo, there have been fairly impressive summer snowfalls in the Alps. On Saturday the snowline was at 2000m, though it has been warm for the last couple of days, so it has risen to its normal level. This is great news for improving snow bridges on the glaciers high up. The weather for the start of this week is fairly sunny, with early evening convection storms, and high wind at altitude.
