The temperatures across the northern Alps have risen over +30C in the last two weeks, and though the temperatures are nice and warm, the effect on the avalanche risk is not so good news. In the past few days we have seen good overnight re-freezes followed by rapid warming during the morning, and the higher risk of wet snow slides in the afternoons. It’s a case of chosing carefully where to go, and taking a guide if you are unsure. In Chamonix the Montenvers train remains closed due to this risk, and the Savoie massifs are particularly affected; http://www.ledauphine.com/isere-sud/2012/03/02/risque-d-avalanche-fort-dans-les-alpes-du-nord
