As this photo taken last week of the Bertol Hut on the Haute Route shows, 2012 will be remembered as the year of the endless winter. This week has seen regular snowfalls down to as low as 800m in the Alps, and the avalanche risk is still marked in many areas. Next week sees our final ski courses of the season. With the conditions we could have extended well into May, but the heat of the past few weeks has taken its toll on some of the glaciers, and to ski uproped in some areas is now dangerous, so we are happy to stick with our planned end of season for safety. It has been an epic winter!
