It’s not often that we blog about a phone app, but the Swiss Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF have released an avalanche forecast app called ‘White Risk’. It is available on iTunes (click for link) for FREE. The app is multi-lingual, with all the key detail in English, so it’s great for those venturing into the Swiss mountains this winter. Real geeks can subscribe to detailed data feeds, such as live snow temperature data from automated stations. We really liked the zoomable map feature on the avalanche forecast.
