You probably haven’t given it a moments thought, but all guides and leaders follow a strict regime of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). Yesterday four UIMLA leaders who have worked for Icicle (Joy, Meg, Duncan and Kingsley), joined a group of ten mountain professionals for a day of avalanche awareness and transceiver search scenarios CPD in Chamonix.

The photo above shows two of the team traversing below the Aiguille du Peigne, on a route choice exercise. All those guiding you (IFMGA or UIMLA) undertake regular CPD each year after they have obtained their qualification. It’s a great way of our guiding team learning and sharing new techniques and knowledge, thus keeping their skills razor sharp!
