Winter Toubkal Morocco

Another 100% successful Mount Toubkal summit ascent with our guide Hassan. As you can see in the photo above from our most recent trip the snow is compacting well above the Neltner refuge on Toubkal allowing groups to summit without any technical problems, although everyone needs ice axe and crampons for safety.

This classic mountaineering summit at 4167m is the highest peak in North Africa and the Atlas mountains. The summit views are amazing with the jagged peaks of the High Atlas stretching as far as you can see in every direction. Across the mountains you can see Marrakech to the north, and the start of the Sahara to the south.

Our week long trip starts in the bustling city of Marrakesh with its colourful souks and the narrow alleyways of the central medina. There are four days of trekking through the stunning valleys and local villages soaking up the colourful local culture and traditions of the Berber people, so apart from the summit of Toubkal itself you also get an amazing insight into the region. The ascent of Mount Toubkal starts from the Neltner mountain refuge at 3210m, and, at this time of year, is all on crampons on snow (although no experience is necessary as most clients learn these crampon skills during this trip).

The next confirmed trip with space is running from February 15th over UK half term week, so if you are looking for a different and challenging experience with a summit to remember, why not join us? The price is only Β£549 per person including the six days of guiding, accommodation in Marrakesh, and all meals and accommodation whilst on the trek: full details are on itinerary.
