Last week American ultra runner Scott Jurek successfully completed the Bob Graham Round in the English Lake District. This legendary mountain running circuit of the fells is a tough challenge, and Scott finished with only quarter of an hour to spare. It is testament to the variety and quality of the running in the Lakes, that it attracted an international runner of Scott’s calibre.
We count ourselves as very fortunate to be based in the Lakes, and with Winter now well behind us, it’s the start of what promises to be a busy and varied mountain running season ahead. Our most popular UK course is our weekend ‘Intro Fell Running’ trip, that offers people a great taster of what trail and fell running are all about.
For this course, we advise people are happy running 10km without a problem, but you don’t even have to have dreamed of running a marathon, let alone an ultra, to consider this course. The focus is on introducing you to the basics, so you can move from the roads into the mountains. We teach you that pacing and footwork are key. Pace will come with experience.
There are a few dates on the horizon for this trip; 17-18 May (3 spaces) and 14-15 June (2 spaces), and you can view the course itinerary here.
