Once in a while we come across some new innovative kit, that makes you really wonder why no one came up with the concept before. We’ve been extensively testing the Pro Trailer Original poles, both for guiding and in trail races, such as in the photo above on the 119km TDS race of the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc last year. These poles are the brainchild of our good friend and colleague Alain Desez, who is a trail runner and mountain guide. The poles were developed specifically for trail running, though they are also great for ski touring and hiking too.

They are extremely durable, and the multi-grip handle extending down the shaft reduces vibration and excels on traverses. In addition, they weigh in at an incredibly light 169g for the 125cm pole. Not only do we use these poles personally and for guiding, but we are delighted to announce that we now stock them in our Lake District shop in Windermere, and we are very proud to be the first and only UK stockist.

In addition, all clients on our running courses both in the UK and the Alps are offered a ‘try before you buy’ scheme where you can test a pair, and as with all technical gear, there is a client discount on purchases from our store.
