Chamonix Marathon

Yesterday was the Mont Blanc marathon in Chamonix, a huge annual event, and one of the toughest mountain marathon races in the world. The route is a full marathon in length (42km) but it has a whopping 2500m height gain, and a 1500m height loss. That equates to two Ben Nevis’s up and one and a bit down!!! The photo is of Kingsley, head of our UIMLA guiding team, having completed the marathon, with his chief supporter – his dog Maximus (who was wise and took the cable car up to meet him at the finish). A massive congratulations to Kingsley for completing the race. Needless to say, he isn’t guiding any trekking groups today.
