Great photo just in from Fred last week (see above), of Rob ice climbing the Antares cascade in the Italian Val d’Aoste. This year the Alpine ice season started slightly later than usual, but as we never schedule dates out of the guaranteed ice season, none of our guests were caught out. The conditions in Cogne were very good, and we saw ascents of all the classics; Cascade Lillaz, Archeronte, Patrie, and Repentence!
This week the conditions are warmer in the Alps, but more snow and cooler temperatures are forecast from tomorrow, with significant snowfalls all next weekend and the following week, which will bring the ice routes back into tip-top condition.
