It may be August in the Alps, and many towns like Chamonix, Zermatt and Courmayeur are renowned for being a busy tourist hotspots, but there’s a great way to escape the crowds; simply put on a pair of trail running shoes! The photo above was taken a week ago of Bella running down the lateral moraines of the Glacier du Tour. It would be hard to find a more spectacular backdrop, and there’s not another person in sight. What more could you ask for from a running holiday?

The dry conditions have been perfect for trail running, and it’s no small wonder that we are enjoying our busiest season ever for guided trail and skyrunning trips. A great recent article in the Sunday Times has further boosted interest, and you can read it here. Each week, we’ve had clients out complaining about the monsoon-esque British summer, who have revelled in the hot Alpine climate. What sets us apart, is that you are coached by a qualified leader who has finished at least one of the worlds most iconic trail races, such as the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, Tor du Geants or Leadville or WS100. We genuinely think that there is no other operator out there who is more credible! We pride ourselves in that we don’t offer talks from ‘celebrity’ runners, or go in for the chardonnay in a hot tub ‘lifestyle’, or quasi-scientific courses. Ours are run by people who do it, not talk the talk. You’ll spend more time out on the trail each day with us, than anyone else, and we won’t dilute time on the mountain with track or gym sessions.
